We spend the month of April in The Netherlands, and we were pretty lucky it being the warmest and sunniest April in 400 years in Holland! The warm family welcome at Schiphol with the suddenly shy niece Isa and the cutest little nephew Melle, accompanied by Bas, Marjan and Tjes was the start of a relaxed month of sleeping in, catching up and multiple socialising events. First of all a fabulous Ski weekend in good old Königsleiten, where various ‘old’ and new Dynamic Hollanders were present and helped creating a funny, sunny and very entertaining ski event and eleven kroegentocht (pub crawl). Joly was unstoppable at this memorable kroegentocht. No ‘jokers’ were used, quite opposite… Also Jasper, Marlies and kids were there, the last time we saw them was while skiing in sweet Salt Lake City last year March.
After this we went on tour to see everyone, including admiring all new babies, 40th birthday parties, housewarmings, charity concerts and meeting and greeting of all friends and family. Tjes and Rein took us on a 6 hour walking tour through beautiful Friesland, finished off with a well deserved Friesian homebrew in the sun. And then of course there was Queensday. We strolled along the canals of Delft bargain hunting, eating raw herring with onions and saté. At the end of the afternoon we met up with a group of friends and kids at the Wijnhaven where our favourite local band Doggy Bag did an excellent outdoor performance and we danced the night away. We remained blissfully unaware of the disastrous Apeldoorn events until we returned home to Joly’s place later that night. Not until after Fem had celebrated her birthday could we leave to head back to Perth, back to our house, our old jobs still waiting, everything still in place, yes, that’s how the cookie crumbles.
That’s where we are now, back in Perth, back at work, almost as if we’ve never been away…..
Now we’ve just settled back in, Hans leave to go working in England for the next 3 months, while I’m back at work at EIW designing yet another church. And Perth experiences the warmest and driest June month in 10 years.
A million memories to share, thousands of photo’s to save, and surely new adventures to come…
